Our Middle Years Program (MYP) provides a framework of academic challenge and life skills for students aged 11-16 years. It follows naturally from the IB Primary Years Programme, serves as excellent preparation for any post-16 education, and provides the best possible foundation for the IB Diploma Programme.

In common with the PYP programme, students are at the core of our MYP and the programme is focused upon developing in all students ten attributes of the IB Learner Profile. Our MYP achieves this through teaching and learning in eight subject groups, all of which rest upon the foundation of the Areas of Interaction. These five 'perspectives' run throughout the 5 years of our MYP and across all subjects.

The Areas of Interaction are:

  • Approaches To Learning (study skills and attitudes)
  • Community and Service (identifying links between our studies and community issues, and taking action to address them)
  • Health and Social Education (considering the implications of our studies for society and for the health of ourselves and others)
  • Environments (identifying our interactions and responsibilities in regard to the different environments in which we live)
  • Human Ingenuity (the causes and consequences of human creativity and invention)
(Taken from the IBO MYP)

The eight subject groups of our MYP are:

  • Language A (the student's best language or the language of instruction in the school)
  • Language B (a foreign language)
  • Humanities
  • Sciences
  • Mathematics
  • Art
  • Physical Education
  • Technology
